iPhone : Tata Group has acquired the Wistron plant that assembles iPhone in India. From now on, production and assembly of iPhone in India will be done by Tata Group, which was informed by Minister of State for Electronics and Technology Rajiv Chandrashekhar through social networking platform X on October 27.

Rajiv Chandrashekhar written on, "Within just two and a half years, Tata companies will start manufacturing iPhones from India for domestic and global markets. Congratulations to the Tata team for taking over the operations of Wistron." The Union Minister also said, "Thank you Wistron for your contribution, and this is a very good step by Apple in building a global supply chain from India with Indian companies."

iPhone 14 is manufactured in Wistron’s factory

According to the report, the value of Wistron’s factory has been estimated at around $125 million. Talks for this deal have been going on between Tata Group and Wistron for the last one year. This plant of Wistron is known for the production of iPhone-14 model. Currently more than 10,000 workers work in this plant.

Wistron had entered the Indian market in 2008, when the company used to provide repair facilities for many devices. After this, in 2017, the company expanded its operations and started production of iPhone for Apple.

Let us tell you that Tata Group is involved in many types of businesses from selling salt to providing technical services. In recent years, the group has embarked on a journey to enter the field of electronics manufacturing and e-commerce. The group currently produces iPhone chassis at its factory in Tamil Nadu state, which forms the metal body of the device. Additionally, Chairman N Chandrasekaran has also expressed aspirations to get into the chipmaking business.
